Maren is a former GenDev CEO who graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2018 with majors in Global Politics and Business Administration. A native of Billings, Montana, she tremendously enjoyed watching GenDev grow and develop over time as an organization while it positively impacted communities in Lexington and abroad.
Karishma is a former GenDev CFO who graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2018 with majors in Business Administration and Computer Science. Originally hailing Highlands Ranch, Colorado, she joined GenDev to develop her knowledge of microfinance and international development issues. Her work with GenDev was crucial in allowing her to combine her W&L education with experiential learning in a meaningful and impactful manner.
Majo, who claims Cartago, Costa Rica as home, is a former GenDev CEO who graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2018 with a major in Strategic Communications and minors in Philosophy and Film. Majo became a part of GenDev to learn more about entrepreneurship, microfinance, and the impact of small businesses on communities. She was particularly drawn to the experiential learning component of GenDev as a means of increasing her practical knowledge of microfinance.
Gianluca Malta has served as GenDev’s Vice President of Loans. He has pursued majors in Accounting & Business Administration and Chemistry at Washington and Lee University since coming to Lexington from his hometown of Recife, Brazil.
Josh graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2016 with majors in Business Administration and Philosophy. He currently is a Sales Executive at Zillow in Seattle.
Daniel graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2016 with a major in Economics. He is an economics graduate student at the University of Virginia.
Bayan graduated from Washington and Lee in 2015 with majors in Economics, Business Administration, and Biology. He is currently working as at Invictus Capital Partners as an analyst in Washington D.C..
Janey graduated from Washington and Lee in 2015 with majors in Journalism and Romance lanuages. She is currently working in Communications for International Justice Mission since September in Guatemala City.
Kane Thomas graduated from Washington and Lee in 2014 with majors in East Asian Language and Literature and International Politics. He is currently working as a Princeton in Asia Fellow at TianRong Microcredit in Urumqi, China.
Ben is passionate about advising, revitalizing, operating and investing in organizations to help them achieve their full potential, and to create value for their stakeholders as well as for society. Ben majored in International Political Economy at Washington and Lee and graduated in 2012. He also completed an interdisciplinary M.A. in International Business Diplomacy (MIBD) at New York University. He is an adamant believer in the potential for private capital to help solve many social issues. He currenlty is living in New York as management consultant.
Mathew graduated from Washington & Lee in 2012.Mathew O'Sullivan is currently an analyst at CrossBoundary, an investment advisory firm focused on capital mobilization in frontier and post-conflict markets. Prior to CrossBoundary, Mathew worked at XacBank, a Mongolian financial institution, in Ulaanbaatar. There, Mathew was a part of the company's Eco Banking team, which provides loans for clean energy and energy efficiency project.
Dillon graduated from Washington and Lee in 2014 with majors in Business Administration and Chinese. He is currently pursuing his passion through the Venture for America fellowship, where he hopes to develop the skills, network and mindset necessary to build his own company. Through the VFA fellowship, he currently serve as the COO of TicketFire in Columbus ,Ohio, exploring the ways in which human-centered design can inform and propel technology, marketing and operational processes.
Reese Whiteman joined The General Development Initiative, Inc. with the vision and drive to improve upon our Nonprofit, and focused on developing the organization with experience and integrity.
